Man's (and woman's) best friend...

We haven't introduced him yet, but Mike and I are the proud parents of a gorgeous Chow Chow/Black Lab puppy named Bernie.  We got him about a month ago and he has already visited two lighthouses! His maternal (human) grandparents call him Bernie the Lighthouse Dog!  Here he is visiting the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse:

Bernie is going to be a pro-lighthouse dog!  He isn't even four months old and has visited a few lighthouses, with more planned in the future.  It will be fun to share our passion for lighthouses with him.  Posts about his adventures will be coming hopefully before summer is over!

This post was inspired by Bernie and our two cats Benny and Teagan.  We also have two birds, Newton and MJ but there probably are not very many opportunities to deck them out in lighthouse apparel.  Even though, they do get to stare at the lighthouse calendar that is in their room (yes, our birds have a room) all day long.

I set out on an internet search to locate some lighthouse accessories that cats and dogs could appreciate.  I found some really amazing stuff and I really want to get Bernie a lighthouse or an Adirondack chair leash/collar.

This collar/leash set is so cute!  It is from the Agatha and Louise online store.  Mike and I have seen a few of the lighthouses (from what I can see on it) and it would be really fun to try to see them all with Bernie if we got him this collar.

A great Nantucket lighthouse dog collar/leash set!  I have seen all three of the Nantucket lighthouses, but Mike hasn't so a trip to Nantucket is a definite must for us.

This Tybee Island Lighthouse water dish would be perfect for Bernie, Benny and Teagan.  It is big enough to hold 40 ounces of water! The Cafe Press website has over 600 pet bowls that came up in my search for "lighthouse", here is one that I thought was quite perfect for a lighthouse dog.

This adorable dog bandanna from Etsy seller OBXpuparazzi is really cute!  I like that it slides over a dog's collar and you don't have to tie it on his or her neck.  My two dogs growing up would sometimes wear bandannas and they would always look adorable!

Maybe the next time Bernie goes to visit a lighthouse, he will have an awesome new collar/leash!
