A Lighthouse a Day, Jan 15 & 16

Today's Lighthouse is Big Sable Point Lighthouse near Ludington, MI

I love this lighthouse, so much so that it appeared on my Top-Ten List. It has a "little" sister, Little Sable Point Lighthouse but don't let the name fool you the Little Sable Point Lighthouse is only 5 feet shorter than Big Sable. In fact, when the two towers were built they were nearly identical but Big Sable was given its unique shell of riveted black and white iron plates to protect it against damaging wind and weather.
