I saw this story on Lighthouse Friends (where else :p). So just this past holiday season, on our way up to Maine to visit with Jamie's parents and brother, we stopped at the Cape Neddick ("The Nubble") Lighthouse in York, ME. The night we arrived (safely) at the Garver's there was a pretty decent blizzard that swept up the Atlantic Coast affecting areas all the way down to Virgina Beach, VA (they actually got more snow than we did!).
I won't go into great detail (I'll let you read the article) but apparently the storm knocked out some power-lines going out to the lighthouse. While we were there we did think it was weird that we could not clearly see the holiday lights that usually decorate the station, and according to the article there were high-winds during the lighting ceremony on the weekend of Thanksgiving. Maybe they didn't have up as many lights this year because of the storms. Crazy to think that we were there sightseeing (obviously there will be a post coming in the future on this) probably anywhere from 6-10 hours before this happened. Here's the link for the story:

Very interesting!! You said you thought that they didn't have many lights on it....hopefully they fix the problem and next year you can see it all lit up!!
